I recently read a story on ConstructionEquipmentGuide.com that was encouraging for the construction industry. They reported that, “Construction employers added 30,000 jobs in December while the industry’s unemployment rate hit 13.5 percent.” This was, according to an analysis of new federal data released by the Associated General Contractors of America. This was the largest monthly increase for jobs in nearly two years.
According to the article, the primary reason for the numbers rising is the increase in private sector demand for construction. Ken Simonson, the association’s chief economist stated, “Now that the threat of the fiscal cliff has been – temporarily – relieved, construction employment should continue to slowly rise in 2013.”
